Nostalgia

The first edition was held in 1991. The Circuits Frontières d'East Hereford were the first at that time to organize this type of event in Quebec. TVA was even on site! On the television you could see if people were able to cross the stream or not. The report aimed at showcasing this beautiful region and at inviting people to come try out there mountain bikes through the Christmas tree plantations.

The day was very simply just divided into two parts. The first stage, held in the morning, consisted of a nearly 17-km leg to the hunting lodge. At the lodge, people ate, talked, and generally celebrated mountain biking. A short time after lunch, Jean would say, "Okay, we're leaving in 15 minutes!" And that would kick off the second leg of the race (and outting for many!), which was about 15 km in length.

The photos below were taken during the third edition, on June 13, 1993. As you can see, there were a lot of people at the starting line. It was the event not to miss for mountain-bike enthusiasts in Estrie. For some people, it was the only time they biked in the region. An innovation was also added in 1993 in order to attract all levels of cyclists: a trailer to help people who wanted up the worst hill on the circuit.

Undoubtedly, some people might actually recognize themselves on one of the photos! And look at the tandem across in the stream!
